  1. Unpack your printer from the product box and take out the box contents such as power cord, CD-ROM, Getting Started Guide, and ink cartridges.
  2. Remove all the packing materials from the Canon Pixma printer and make sure to recycle them.
  3. Next, connect the printer to an electrical outlet using the supplied power cord and press the ON button to turn on the printer.
  4. Open/access the ink cartridge access door and wait until the ink carriage comes to the center position.
  5. Unpack the ink cartridges and remove the protective seal from them.
  6. Install the color ink cartridge into the left and the black ink cartridge on the right-hand side.
  7. Close the ink cartridge access door after installing both ink cartridges.
