Detailed instructions for setting up Brother printer on a wireless network
Make sure your Brother printer’s hardware setup is complete and check if you have connected the printer to a power source. Move the printer closer to (within the range of) your router. Switch on the printer and make sure it is in the ready state before proceeding with the next step.
Locate the WPS button on your WLAN router and hold it for a few seconds. Press the Wireless Setup button on your Brother printer’s control panel for at least 3 seconds. The printer will search for the WLAN access point/router supporting Wi-Fi Protected Setup. When the Toner and Drum lights blink, it indicates that the printer is establishing a connection with the router.
When the Ready light is lit, the printer and router are successfully connected. The wireless configuration of the printer is now complete. The next step to be done is the driver installation. Perform the steps given below to install the printer driver using the installation disc.
Insert the setup disc into your computer. If the computer runs on a Windows operating system, the installation screen will pop up automatically. Choose your printer model and then select a language. Open the CD-ROM main menu and select the Install Printer Driver option. Agree to the installer’s license agreement and then carry out the prompts displayed on the screen to complete the installation of the driver.
If you are using the Mac operating system, double-click on the Start Here OSX icon to set up the Brother printer on a wireless (Wi-Fi) network without the use of the CD-ROM. When you receive a prompt to choose a connection type, select the Wireless option. Follow the prompts appearing on the screen to complete the setup. Detailed instructions for setting up the printer on a wireless network without a setup disc are given below.
Obtain your network SSID and passcode. Select the Network option under the Menu section on the printer’s control panel. Now select OK and choose WLAN. Scroll to the Setup Wizard option and then select OK again. When the WLAN Enable? screen appears, select Wireless Network option to initiate Wireless Setup Wizard. The printer will now search for the available networks.
Select your wireless network from the list of available networks and press the OK button. You will see the Connected message if the setup is successful. Download and install the printer driver by clicking the Download link provided below. Select the wireless connection type when prompted during the installation.
