Detailed explanation on cleaning brother printer’s printhead
Most printers use inkjet technology that is prone to clogging. This issue occurs when the ink inside the cartridge dries. You need to print a Print Quality Check to look for the clogged nozzle. Locate the Ink icon on the printer’s control panel. Press it to view the ink level. If the button is unavailable, use the Menu key for navigation.
Use the up and down arrows to navigate to the Ink option. Press OK and click the Test Print option. Select OK and view the quality of printouts by selecting Print Quality. Select the Color Start option. Refrain from proceeding until the sheet prints. If there are any gaps between the test patterns, it is necessary to clean the printhead.
If the printer contains touchscreen, tap the Ink icon to view the estimated ink level. Tap Test Print -> Print Quality -> Color Start. Inspect the check sheet. If there are any gaps or partially filled areas in the test patterns, it is necessary to clean the printhead. In certain cases, it is required to clean the printhead nozzles.
Tap the Ink icon. Select Cleaning -> Black, Color or All to clean the black nozzles. You need to clean three or four-nozzle colors at a time. It is impossible to clean each color individually. After completing the process, the printer reverts to the ready mode. If the printer does not contain a touchscreen, move to the next step.
Press the Ink key on the printer’s operation panel. Use the up and down arrows to move to other options and press OK. Select the Cleaning option. Click OK to enable the option. Choose either the Black or Color option. Press OK to start the cleaning process. If you are using a multifunctional printer, proceed with the steps below.
Press the Ink icon on the printer’s panel. Select the Printhead Cleaning option under the Settings menu. Press Black Only -> Normal -> Start. After a while, the printer starts the cleaning process.
If you are not satisfied with the print quality even after the cleaning process, try installing a new ink cartridge by replacing the cartridge. Now, try to print from the printer to check the print quality.
