Remove and install ink cartridges

Improper installation of ink cartridges will result in the Error Code 1403. To avoid this issue, remove the ink cartridges from the printer and reinstall them properly.

  1. If your Canon printer is turned on, press the Power button and detach the power cord from the printer.
  2. Wait for few minutes until the printer cools down.
  3. Open the scanner cover.
  4. Remove the ink cartridges from the ink cartridge unit.
  5. Reinstall them one by one in the respective slots until you hear the click sound.
  1. Make sure that you insert them properly in the respective color slot.
  2. Once installed, close the scanner cover.
  3. Connect the power cable to the Canon printer.
  4. Press the ON button.
  5. Make sure that Error Code 1403 gets fixed.

Clean the print head

Check whether the print head is placed correctly or not. If not, place it properly. Cleaning the print head will also help recover from the Error Code 1403.

  1. Turn off your Canon printer.
  2. After the printer cools down, open the scanner cover.
  3. Remove all the cartridges from the ink cartridge unit.
  4. After removing them, take out the print head gently from the machine.
  5. Clean the print head with water.
  6. Wipe the print head completely and wait for a few minutes until the print head gets dried.

  2. Reinstall the ink cartridges in the respective color slots.
  3. Close the scanner cover.
  4. Power on the Canon printer.
  5. Make sure that Error Code 1403 gets fixed.

Update the printer driver

If the above provided methods do not fix the issue, update your printer driver. Using an outdated printer driver may cause the Error Code 1403.

  1. Select Start and select the Control Panel option (on your Windows computer).
  2. Choose the Programs and Features option.
  3. Search and locate the Canon printer driver from the list.

  5. Once uninstalled, go to the Canon official web page.
